Drake hits Radio City and (re)finds my love
Drake hit Radio City Music Hall in NYC last night in one of two sold-out shows and of course, yours truly was there on the floor. Now before I proceed, I’ll admit that my love for the Drizz has waned in recent months. It wasn’t him, it was me. Sometimes too much of a good thing can be, well, too much.
My love was reignited.
Drake performed a solid 1.5 hours of material from Thank Me Later including my personal favorites “A Night Off”, “Shut it Down”, and a great rendition of B.O.B’s “Nothin on You”. The Drizz looked smashing (pun intended) in a camo ensemble which contrasted with the colorful, dream-like staging. Drake’s stage presence has grown since I last saw him at Bamboozle but he’s kept the awkward/adorable hops and facial expressions. Although key collaborators were noticeably missing in action (see: Lloyd, Trey Songz, Nicki Minaj, Swizz Beatz), a puffy-vested Young Jeezy more than made up for it performing the stellar “Unforgettable”. Drizzy, Jeezy, and Sowmyeezy…a match made in heaven.
