Adventures in Kalamazoo: gingerbread men + Meijer’s gets bougie
Almost a week of being back home in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Since most of you have never heard of Kalamazoo (yes it really is a place!) I thought I’d share some hometown highlights.
A trip to Meijer’s supermarket is a must in Kalamazoo. Aside from being a “see and be seen” spot for teenagers, the store is really a one-stop shop for all of your grocery, fashion, gardening, etc needs and puts any NYC bodega or grocery store to shame. I could spend hours traversing the vast aisles and low low prices.
On this trip, I spent a good 20 minutes perusing produce and snagged a tasty gingerbread man to satiate my sweet tooth. I named him Pedro. Then I ate him.
Aside from my gingerbread boo, I was shocked at how dare I say, eclectic Meijer’s has gotten. From pad thai and matar paneer to prepared sushi, tastes must be getting cosmopolitan around these parts. And you know what? The Sushicado roll with avocado and raw salmon was pretty freaking tasty. Kzoo #onthecomeup
