I hobbled (sans boot) to rapper Common’s album preview for The Dreamer/The Believer (in stores 12/20) last night. Although I’ve heard the record in total already, it’s always a different experience hearing the music with the artist himself (not to mention the open bar-guzzling groupies in attendance). Overall, a solid and definitely a contender for one of the year’s best rap albums. Peep my full review at the Village Voice and take a looksie at Com performing “Raw” acapella. As a new iPhone owner, I didn’t realize the whole shooting in portrait vs. landscape thing. Oopsies.

I didn’t hobble over to Frank Ocean’s first NYC show last night but the good folks at The Life Files did. Check out Mr. Ocean with a sassy bandana performing “Thinking About You”. Once this lame boot is off, I’ll see you good sir.

Jay-Z x Kanye West + Madison Square Garden = magic. I hobbled over with my sprained ankle (I’ll be feeling that today) to the sold-out Watch the Throne show w/ the homie Jenn. We witnessed a light and sound spectacular or more accurately, two hip-hop friends bro-ing it up. Adorbs!

We were close enough to literally touch Kanye’s leather kilt (Note to self: touch Kanye’s leather kilt next time). Celeb sightings included Maxwell in the front row and Spike Lee in the section nearby.

I reviewed Internet sensation Iggy Azalea’s CMJ set for the Village Voice and was refreshingly surprised by what I saw. You can’t judge every White girl rapper by her cover. Check the review HERE + live footage below:
