Video: Drizzy talks “Over” music video @drakkardnoir @anthonymandler

A very tan and scrumptious Drake talks to MTV about shooting the music video for his first single “Over”. Working with helmer Anthony Mandler (who I just realized was on Twitter!), the eye behind Jay-Z’s “Run This Town” and Rihanna’s “Russian Roulette” among other noteworthy vids, the Driz seems in great spirits and his knee is doing just fine. :D

Drake says “The album is about finding love, feeling ‘Have I sold my soul’ as far as ‘Will I ever be able to gain the trust of a woman? (*cough* Sowmya) Will I only be able to be around the dark, evil women? (*cough* Sowmya) Will I ever find that pure love? (*cough* Sowmya)‘ Those elements are in the video. I look strong, I feel great, my knee’s feeling great. I’m jumping around, doing all kinds of stuff.”

Video: A page in Diggy Simmons’ Mac Book

Diggy Simmons, one of Rev. Run’s sons and star of Run’s House drops his take on the Nas classic “Made You Look”. The “Flow Stoopid” freestyle is not all that bad (and believe you me, I wanted to take some #shots) and the young Simmons is definitely a smedium cutie. I’m sure the tween set will heart this but Diggy will have to push in order to overcome the stigma of the rich celebrity kid rapper (see Exhibit A: Schwayze). As long as the Digster can create music with universal themes that go beyond not being able to borrow Dad’s Bentley, while balancing authenticity, his rhyme book might stand a chance.

Video: Lady Gaga and Beyonce confuse and delight in “Telephone”

Lady Gaga and Beyonce’s “Telephone” video is more than 9 minutes of violence, sex, product placement, and bright colors. Director Jonas Akerlund takes references from flicks like Kill Bill and Thelma & Louise and incorporates camp, pop culture references, Coke can hair rollers, and Tyrese Gibson (huh?). Per the Lady herself, the video embodies “the idea that America is full of young people that are inundated with information and technology and turns it into something that was more of a commentary on the kind of country that we are

Personally, the jury is still out on whether the visually dazzling video is a brilliant take on feminism and consumerism or just 10 minutes of randomness.
