Young Jeezy talks Fela, the Nigerian-born musician and composer and inspiration behind the popular show Fela!. I love how he talks about being “taken to a different place” away from 808s and hi-hats. What a cultured young man. Do I sense dinner and Broadway date with Young Jizzle? Hmmm. Shout outs to GoodFellaRadio for the linkie.
The Oscars got a little bit more interesting when producer Elinor Burkett bogarted director Roger Ross Williams’ acceptance speech for best documentary short, “Music By Prudence”. The awards were pretty ho-hum but this moment stood out. According to Burkett, “But there have been all these events around the Oscars, and I wasn’t invited to any of them. And he’s not speaking to me. So we weren’t even able to discuss ahead of the time who would be the one person allowed to speak if we won.” Wow Lawrys x 1000. Source: YBF
Only on the Internets… rapper Fabolous (who’s looking pretty tasty here if I do say so myself) calls out the homie Low Key for hating on his music. Low has a pretty good sense of humor and actually sent me this video. It’s all in fun boys…all in fun.

The infamous Sprite commercial. I posted the trailer a while ago. Part futuristic, part an homage to MJ’s Moonwalker, all Drizzy. The reason I can’t get “Forever” out of my head.
Weeks after the Super Bowl, I’m still obsessed with Google’s “Parisian Love” commercial (see the sidebar). There’s nothing more emo than long distance amour with a happy ending. Here are some less romantic albeit hilarious and disturbing spin-offs.
What happened after “Parisian Love”? Parisian nightmare of course!
How innocently a surprise party can turn to murder…

“Licky” singer Shontelle’s high-fashion album photoshoot w/ Robert Ascroft. I love the look at 2:42. If you’re not familiar, Robert is a well known photog who has snapped plenty of celebs in the past. Below are two of my favorite pics.
High fashion from the comfort of your computer. Can’t make it to the Tents? No worries, keep the UGGs at home. Diesel Black Gold is live streaming its 2010 fashion show today at 5pm. A little taste of what you can expect: The collection, industrial in attitude but artisanal at the heart, reveals the Diesel Black Gold woman. Young and urban, with a sophisticated sex appeal, she is assertive and confident with a streak of independent rock and roll spirit.
. Young and urban with a sophisticated sex appeal? My ears are burning
Happy Valentine’s Day! Whether you’re in love or in like, spend the day with those you care about. I’ll be embracing my “single girl in the city” by scarfing down cupcakes with Erika R. and then sweating it out at the gym. No matter where you are emotionally today, here are two clips from my favorite Valentine’s Day The Simpsons episode “I Love Lisa”. If you know me, the best way to my heart is less candy and flowers and more Bacon Day and Ralph Wiggum.
