J. Cole announces new album in heartfelt video

This is how you announce an album. J. Cole surprised us all last night by announcing a new album, 2014 Forrest Hills Drive, dropping 12/9. Jermaine accompanied the news with this new mini doc shot in his hometown of Fayetteville, North Carolina. I have to say, he’s one of the few rappers we (fans and the industry) genuinely like and want to win. Looking forward to the new record.

Beyonce slays the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards

The 2014 MTV VMAs were 2.5 hours tonight. Before Beyonce’s performance, I don’t even know what happened. She SLAYED the stage and was presented the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award by hubby Jay Z and little Blue Ivy (who said, “Good job, Mommy”). Omg. I could watch this over and over again #realtears #royalfamily

Action Bronson goes on an excellent adventure in “Easy Rider”

Why is Action Bronson so awesome? When he’s not posting kick-ass food porn on Instagram, he’s going on an excellent adventure a la the 1969 flick Easy Rider. The electric guitar solo at the end is fantastic. Love when rappers don’t take themselves sooooo seriously.

Tune into ‘Sisterhood of Hip Hop’ tonight on Oxygen!

This summer, I was approached by Oxygen to work with their new show Sisterhood of Hip Hop. The show (executive produced by T.I.) follows the lives of five female rappers as they try to make it in hip-hop: Siya, Nyemiah Supreme, Diamond, Bia and Brianna Perry. I was on-set as the Social Media Correspondent, which basically meant curating content, doing interviews and other wavy stuff. As a reality show junkie, it was super eye-opening to see the real way a show is made (It ain’t all glitter and wine dates). We had a ton of awesome guest stars like Rick Ross, Pharrell and Timbaland stop by and you may even catch me in a scene or two (What?)

Peep my behind-the-scenes dish every week here and tune in every Tuesday at 9pm/ET.
