Lil Wayne strips down-musically and ultimately, physically-for MTV’s Unplugged this weekend (airing 6/12 at 9pm ET on MTV, MTV2 and MTV.com). I attended a special sneak peek for the show at the swanky PMEventi Hotel. It was great to see the journo homies (Elliott Wilson, JRod, Shaheem, JFK, Clover, Rae and Gabe, Jasmine, Neef, etc.) and take in the show.

Mr. Carter puts a fresh spin on fan favorites like “A Milli” and “Lollipop”, teases tracks from the upcoming Tha Carter IV and for the first time, speaks on his recent penitentiary stint by channeling 2Pac’s “Hail Mary”. Even sans guitar (sorry Rebirth fans) Wayne fully commits to the Unplugged element and outbursts like “Why you aint tell me my fly was open?” halfway through the show only underscore his position as hip-hop’s reigning rock star.

Set your DVR and in the meantime, peep the frenetic ‘6 Foot, 7 Foot’ featuring Cory Gunz.

Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, Travis Barker and a slew of friends (DJ Khaled, Ace Hood, Birdman, Lil Twist, Cory Gunz) rocked Nassau Coliseum last night as part of the I Am Still Music tour. I shleped up to Long Island with the homie Franz to catch my first Weezy show. Lil Tunechi did not disappoint, performing nearly his entire catalog and guests verses.

Personal highlights include “Money To Blow”, which gave me a chance to sing Drake’s at the top of my lungs, and “Miss Me”. Unfortunately the Drizz was not in the house; I presume he was tired after the Junos. *tear* Amazing job by Wayne and Nicki represented for all the Barbies, who incidentally knew every.word. to. her. songs. Young moola babyyyyy…
